9-Year-Old Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries in Farmington Crash

A head-on collision injured at least four people Sunday afternoon on Route 177.

FARMINGTON, CT — A 9-year-old child sustained life-threatening injuries and three other persons were seriously injured in a head-on crash on Route 177 Sunday afternoon.

Around 3:27 p.m., Farmington police,fire, and EMS personnel responded to the area of Route 177 at Nauset Lane for a head-on crash involving two cars. The 9-year old victim was transported to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center via Lifestar helicopter, while three other victims were transported to Hartford-area hospitals via ambulance with serious injuries, police said.

Route 177 was closed for a time while authorities investigated, but has since re-opened, police said.

The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad responded and is assisting in the investigation. Any witnesses are asked to contact Farmington Police Detective Hughes at 860-675-2461.
