FARMINGTON, CT — A family is asking for the public’s help in locating their missing dog, Winston, who went missing Friday evening.
According to the family’s alert sent to Patch Saturday morning by family member Ray Porter, Winston got loose around 6 p.m. Friday near the Olde Pond Road and Morea Road area.
He is described as a 25-pound dog with a white coat and large brown spots on his back and at the base of his tail.
He was not wearing a collar at the time, and a missing dog alert indicated 'Winston' is not from the area.
The family said Winston is “sweet but scared” and responds to his name as well as the word “Dinner!”
Possible sightings were reported Friday evening on Minnesota Lane in Bristol and near a home on Stevens Street known locally as the “Cows” house.
The family noted that Winston may have since returned to the Farmington area.
They also cautioned residents not to chase him, warning, “you’ll never catch him,” but suggested he may approach if offered treats, as he is likely hungry.
The family urges anyone who sees the dog to call 860-604-0759 immediately.
