FARMINGTON, CT — A cute family dog reported missing in Farmington for the past several days has been found and safely returned home, according to its owner, on Thursday.
Roy Porter said his dog, Winston, disappeared around 6 p.m. Friday, April 17, and was located on Wednesday evening after five days missing.
The dog was spotted by a passerby in a wooded area off Stafford Avenue and brought back with the help of the passerby’s son, he said.
“He was missing for 5 days from Friday, April 17 at 6 p.m., until spotted on Wednesday by a man walking his dog in a wooded area off Stafford Avenue and retrieved by his son. He's a very tired pup,” wrote Porter to Patch.
According to an alert shared Saturday morning, April 18, by family member Porter, Winston went missing near Olde Pond Road and Morea Road.
At the time, the dog was not wearing a collar, and the family noted he was unfamiliar with the area.
The family described Winston as “sweet but scared” during the search.
No injuries to the dog were reported.
This is the third successful reunion of missing family dogs with their owners in the area, with prior reunions happening in Simsbury on March 5, and in West Hartford on Jan. 8, when a beloved canine miraculously survived 11 days in the freezing cold in the woods.
