Motorcyclist Seriously Hurt In Farmington Crash: Police

Police said the 67-year-old man was not wearing a helmet, and he was flown via Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital.

FARMINGTON, CT — A 67-year-old New Britain man suffered serious injuries Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on Route 4 in Farmington, according to police.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:08 p.m. on June 28 on Collinsville Road (Route 4) near River Road.

According to a preliminary investigation by the Farmington Police Department, the motorcycle struck the rear of a slowing or stopped vehicle.

The two occupants of the vehicle were transported by ambulance to area hospitals for evaluation of minor injuries.

Police said the motorcycle operator was not wearing a helmet and suffered a head injury in the collision.

He was conscious and alert at the scene but sustained serious injuries.

A Life Star helicopter responded and transported the man to Hartford Hospital for further treatment.

The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad is investigating the crash.

Collinsville Road (Route 4) remained closed for several hours Sunday as investigators processed the scene.
