FARMINGTON, CT — Farmington Community & Supportive Services is asking residents to help local students prepare for the upcoming school year by donating new school supplies through its annual Back-to-School Drive.
The collection runs through Friday, Aug. 7, with donations accepted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Staples House, 2 Monteith Drive.
The department is seeking donations of new, unused school supplies, including backpacks, pencils, pens, highlighters, rulers, notebooks, binders, folders, markers, glue sticks, erasers and other K-12 classroom essentials.
In addition to collecting donations, the department is continuing to accept requests from Farmington families who need assistance obtaining school supplies for their children.
"Together, we can help ensure every student heads back to school with the supplies they need to succeed," the department said in a social media post thanking residents for supporting Farmington students.
The annual drive is intended to help ensure local students begin the school year equipped with the supplies they need for the classroom.
