Billy Joel/Elton John Tribute Concert Canceled In Farmington

FARMINGTON, CT — A Farmington summer concert featuring the music of Billy Joel and Elton John has been canceled after weather interfered with the performance for a second time.

Farmington Community & Supportive Services announced Thursday that the "Piano Man Meets Rocket Man" concert scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Staples House Green will not take place because of the potential for thunderstorms.

The performance, featuring River of Dreams and Here's Elton, had originally been scheduled for Aug. 6 but was postponed because of weather.

"Unfortunately, due to the potential for thunderstorms this evening, Piano Man Meets Rocket Man has made the difficult decision to cancel tonight's concert," town officials said.

The seven-piece tribute show features music made famous by Billy Joel and Elton John.

While Thursday's performance will not be rescheduled this summer, Farmington officials said the musicians have agreed to return in 2027.

"We are all so disappointed that the weather has gotten in the way of this concert once again," officials said. "The good news is that the band has agreed to join us next year as one of our lead presenters for the summer concert series!"

The performance is expected to be part of Farmington's 2027 Summer Concert Series on the Staples House Green.
