FARMINGTON, CT — Farmington residents may want to keep an eye out for small green visitors hiding around town this September.
The Farmington Libraries have launched "The Great Rubber Duck Hunt," a community scavenger hunt featuring 50 green rubber ducks hidden in public spaces throughout Farmington and Unionville.
The event, which began Tuesday, Sept. 1, is being held in celebration of Library Card Sign Up Month.
Each duck has a special blue ribbon reading "Return to The Farmington Libraries."
Anyone who discovers one can bring it to either Farmington Library location and show it to a staff member.
Farmington, CT has two public library branches that make up the Farmington Libraries system:
Participants are then encouraged to take a photo with their duck at the library and tag @farmingtonlibraries on Facebook or Instagram.
After checking in, finders get to keep their ducks as souvenirs.
The libraries said ducks have been placed only in public spaces and will not be hidden on private property.
Each person who successfully finds and returns a duck will also be entered into a raffle for a Farmington Libraries swag bag. Raffle entries are limited to one duck per person.
The winner will be drawn Thursday, Oct. 1.
