Farmington Senior Living Community Earns Major Designation

FARMINGTON, CT — Farmington Station has renewed an accreditation recognizing its dementia care programs and practices, according to the senior living community.

Residents and staff recently gathered to mark the renewal of Farmington Station's Purple Flag Excellence in Dementia Care accreditation.

Farmington Station, located at 111 Scott Swamp Road, offers assisted living and a secure Compass Memory Support Neighborhood for residents with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.

Christopher Carter, president of Purple Flag, joined the celebration, where Farmington Station Executive Director Lindsay Miller accepted the certificate on behalf of the community.

Purple Flag evaluates dementia care providers based on standards involving areas such as care practices, staff training, programming, and day-to-day operations.

Farmington Station first received Purple Flag accreditation before earning reaccreditation in 2023, when it was among the first senior living communities nationally to do so, according to Farmington Station.

"Our initial Purple Flag application process in 2023 assessed our community's care approach, programs, training processes, and general day-to-day operations against some pretty rigorous standards," Miller said.

"I could not be prouder to lead a team that puts residents' needs above all else while simultaneously building each other up to grow personally and professionally," she said.

Farmington Station said its approach emphasizes individualized care based on each resident's needs and goals, along with programming and environments designed to support quality of life.

"Meaningful quality of life is a defining feature of the care provided here at Farmington Station, and quality of life is a defining feature of Purple Flag Excellence in Dementia Care reaccreditation," Carter said.
