At times, in soccer the less glamorous side to the game is often overlooked. Sometimes, when you are not the player assisting or putting the ball in to the back of the net your contribution may not be as noticeable to the untrained eye. The varsity soccer team has currently conceded one goal in 960 minutes of play. A huge reason why is the consistent performances of central defender, Claire Beath. Claire's performances have been at such a high level that there are times when it inspires her teammates to do the same. On the ball, she shows composure and confidence, and without the ball, she seems unbeatable when put into 1 v 1 situations. Claire personifies the famous Mia Hamm quote; “The vision of a champion is bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion, when nobody else is looking. Claire goes about her role quietly, not looking for compliments. She just loves to compete and gives her all for her teammates.
