Avon Man Named President At Farmington-Based Health Care Provider

AVON/FARMINGTON, CT — An Avon resident has been picked to lead Farmington-based ConnectiCare, one of the state's largest health providers.

ConnectiCare officials Friday announced that Mark Meador has been appointed to be the Farmington company's next president. ConnectiCare's headquarters are at 175 Scott Swamp Road, Farmington.

Meador will oversee the health plan’s business in Connecticut and Massachusetts and succeeds Roberta Wachtelhausen, who has served as interim president since November 2022.

“Mark is an experienced leader who deeply understands our business and the importance of working closely with policy, government and business leaders. He has worked extensively in Connecticut’s regulatory environment and is uniquely positioned to represent us,” said Michael Palmateer, president of health plans at the EmblemHealth family of companies, which includes ConnectiCare.

Meador has been with ConnectiCare since 2019, serving as the company’s general counsel.

Before joining ConnectiCare, he spent more than 20 years with Aetna in various executive positions.

Earlier in his career, he held leadership positions with other insurance carriers, including Prudential, and worked for a private law firm in Atlanta, Ga.

“I’m honored to lead ConnectiCare and continue the company’s legacy of community commitment,” said Meador.

Meador has a bachelor of arts in economics degree from Emory University and is a graduate of the Emory University School of Law.

He is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Georgia Bar Association and the Georgia Courts, U.S. Supreme Court.
