Beloved Paramedic Dies, Mourned By Many

CONNECTICUT — AMR Waterbury shared the heartbreaking news concerning the recent death of Matt Klimovich, a beloved paramedic.

In a social media post, AMR Waterbury, CT said, "It is with tremendous sadness and a heavy heart that I inform you all of the passing of Matt Klimovich earlier this (Friday) evening. Matt’s wife, Michelle, was at his side when he passed.

"Matt was hired at AMR Waterbury in 2017 where he has worked as a full time Paramedic FTO. He began his EMS career in 1990 when he became an EMT. Matt was also an EMS-Instructor for many years," AMR Waterbury, CT said in its social media post.

Bill Schietinger, who is the Regional Director of American Medical Response of Connecticut, wrote in a social media post, "While I never had the pleasure of knowing Matt personally, I have heard many comments over the last few days about how he was an easy going and jovial person. He was a staunch patient advocate and mentored EMTs and Paramedics over the years instilling that trait in many."

"It is during these extremely difficult times when we rely heavily on each other to help deal with our grief and sadness. Please look after one another and don’t be afraid to ask for help," Schietinger wrote.

The Town of Farmington Professional Firefighters IAFF L-3103 wrote in a social media post, "It is with profound sadness that L-3103 extends our deepest condolences to our colleagues at AMR Waterbury, CT, and to the entire EMS community, following the heartbreaking loss of Paramedic Matthew Klimovich.

"Matt dedicated many years of selfless service to the residents and visitors of Farmington, offering exceptional care as a paramedic with AMR," the fire union wrote. "His calming presence, compassionate nature, and reassuring demeanor left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

"During this incredibly difficult time, our hearts go out to Matt’s family, friends, and loved ones. We are deeply grateful for his unwavering commitment and the extraordinary care he provided throughout his career. His memory will forever be cherished, and his loss will be felt by so many," the fire union wrote.

The Farmington Fire Department added, "Our condolences and thoughts go out to the family, friends, and the employees of the AMR Waterbury division on the passing of Paramedic Matthew Klimovich. Matt was an asset to EMS having taught many of our EMTs as an instructor. The Farmington area was lucky to have had you as part of our first responder family!"
