FARMINGTON/WEST HARTFORD, CT — Farmington police are investigating a brazen larceny inside the WestFarms Mall, in which suspects smashed and grabbed their way into one business.

The Farmington Police Department Thursday afternoon released information about the incident but did not divulge the business impacted.

According to the FPD, the "smash-and-grab-type" larceny resulted in shattered glass, the sound of which startled shoppers.

Police, though, said no weapons were displayed or discharged and "there is no threat to the community."

The FPD said the larceny is still under investigation and no further information is being released at this time.

While the mall is located in both Farmington and West Hartford, the FPD is investigating the incident because it occurred in the Farmington section of the major shopping destination.
