Building at UConn Health Center Closed Due to Mercury Spill

A small amount of mercury was discovered in a loading dock/storage area of the Administrative Services Building at the Farmington campus.

FARMINGTON, CT — A portion of the UConn Health Center was closed Wednesday morning after a small amount of mercury dropped onto the floor in one of the buildings, WFSB-TV reported.

The station quoted a hospital spokesperson as saying some "small drops of mercury" were discovered in a loading dock/storage area of the Administrative Services Building.

Personnel from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection were called in to assist the investigation.
