Camp Counselor in Farmington Dies After Insect Bite

A Hartford’s Camp Courant employee died Friday at campgrounds in Farmington likely as a result of an insect bite, NBC Connecticut reports.

“The Board and staff of Hartford’s Camp Courant are shocked and saddened by the unexpected death of a long-time staff member at the Camp’s location in Farmington this morning,” the camp’s interim director McKinley Albert said in a statement via NBC Connecticut. “Our condolences go out to his family.”

An exterminator is examining the campgrounds. The counselor’s identity has not yet been released.
