- Farmington native Julia Meehan of the Wesleyan University women's soccer team has been named to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team. The teams are selected by CoSIDA and recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. All of the All-America selections advanced to the ballot after earning All-District First Team honors. Of the 66 student-athletes named to both the men's and women's teams, Meehan, who previously attended Farmington High School, was one of just 25 (14 women) boasting a perfect 4.00 grade point average. She is an economics major with a minor in data analysis and was a captain this fall. Meehan was part of the defensive unit that ranked fourth in the NESCAC with a 0.91 goals against average and seven shutouts. This year, she recorded two assists and has played in 46 of 47 games during her three seasons with Wesleyan. Off the field and outside of the classroom, Meehan works in the Athletic Communications department during the off-season and is a peer tutor on campus. Additionally, she is a member of the Women in Business club and recently completed an internship in analytics and data science with the Kraft Analytics Group in Middletown.
