Celebrate Student Scholarship w. FHS and the Historical Society
Farmington High School students will showcase National History Day projects at historical society sites on the evening of May 2, 2018.

The Farmington High School Social Studies Department and the Farmington Historical Society invite you to join us on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 to celebrate the work of our outstanding student historians in the National History Day competition.
National History Day is a non-profit organization that ignites students’ passion for history through independent inquiry. Students carry out in-depth research and develop an argument in response to a independently created question. They then create documentaries, websites, research papers, exhibits, or performances to share this learning. Student projects are entered into the regional History Day competition, with opportunities to advance to state and national contests.
Farmington High School students have had great success in the National History Day program. In 2017, nine Farmington High School teams won at the regional level, moving on to the state-wide competition. FHS students’ project on the Iranian Revolution won the state-wide competition in the website category and went on to compete at nationals.

This year, projects cover local topics, such as the Sheff v. O’Neill court case, to global issues like the partition of India.
Students will showcase their work at both the Farmington Historical Society (138 Main Street) and the Old Stone School House (93 Coppermine Road) on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 5 to 8 pm. Refreshments will be served at both locations.
