College Achievements By Students From Farmington

FARMINGTON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Belmont University, Nashville TN

• While some may be relaxing by the pool or working at a summer job, Nigel Marvin of Farmington joined more than 700 other Belmont University students who participated in one of 45 faculty-led Maymester and Summer Study Abroad programs. Marvin spent time in Belmont's Spain program for college credit this summer.

University of Scranton, Scranton PA

• Kerry Ann Randall of Unionville, along with Megan Schane, were awarded the University of Scranton's 2019 Bonnie W. Oldham Library Research Prize in the Graduate category. Randall and Schane, both occupational therapy majors, submitted to the competition their project, "Adaptive Equipment Through the Ages: A Historical Review of Occupational Therapy," completed in the course OT 501: Leadership in Occupational Therapy. For this project, Randall and Schane made heavy use of library resources which they accessed through the online library research guide for this course. Resources used include the library's databases including ProQuest Health and Medical Complete, CINAHL, and PubMed; books including those that were held on print reserve and at the Research Services desk, books from the circulating collection, and ebooks; journals both in print and online; and periodical literature only available in microfilm. They also took advantage of support from the faculty librarians both in class and at the Research Services desk, as well as Interlibrary Loan services.

University of Utah, Salt Lake City UT

• Greg Boiczyk of Unionville graduated with a Master of Science in Bioengineering from the University of Utah on May 2, 2019. Boiczyk was among the 8,465 graduates who were honored during the university's 150th general commencement ceremony.
