Therapy Dog On Hand Saturday At Farmington Library

Therapy dogs are especially good with children and reading to one helps children improve their reading skills.

FARMINGTON, CT — Families looking to hang out and read with a new canine pal can do so at the Farmington Public Library on Saturday, Oct. 15.

The Farmington Library's main site on 6 Monteith Drive is hosting "Saturday With Sophie The Dog" from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. that day.

Sophie is not just any regular pooch. She's a certified therapy dog specially trained to interact and be friendly with new people who come into her life.

Historically, therapy dogs are especially useful in helping children read, as reading to dogs often helps kids practice and learn reading themselves.
