Community Service Commitment by FHS Musicians

Students of the FHS Music Department Connect with their Community Through Service

The FHS Music Department is committed to connecting students to their school and community. Musicians learn how to independently perform in small and large groups while in their classes. Students learn how to connect with their community by performing for town residents and organizations. By increasing the opportunities for students to create authentic, high quality work for real audiences, students can find ways contribute to the betterment of society. These community connections are important in the development of civic duty and fostering new relationships outside of the school building.

This fall, student musicians performed at many community events and here is a highlight of these performances: Farmington Public Schools Foundation’s Trivia Bee, the fall pep rally, Band Buddy Night, Teacher Appreciation Breakfast, Hillstead Museum’s Holiday Market Place, the Rotary Club’s Senior Luncheon, The Senior Citizen Cafe, three local nursing homes, the FHS freshman reception, Town Hall Veteran's Day Ceremony, the annual FHS Senior Cafe for senior residents, and the monthly Sunday service at Middlewoods Senior Care Facility.

FHS musicians continue to make connections with members of their community by sharing their talents with others.
