Man Killed In Farmington Highway Crash [UPDATED]

A fatal crash closed a section of Interstate 84 in Farmington late Tuesday morning, state police said.

FARMINGTON, CT — A fatal crash involving a truck and car took the life of a Connecticut man and closed a section of Interstate 84 in Farmington late Tuesday morning, state police said.

The crash was reported by state police and the state Department of Transportation at 9:49 a.m. and took place on I-84 eastbound near Exit 37.

According to a police report, a truck belonging to the Dunning Sand & Gravel Co. of Farmington stopped in the left lane due to heavy traffic congestion, when it was struck from behind by a 2013 Volkswagen Passat operated by Michael Capolupo, 30, of the Oakville section of Watertown.

Capolupo was transported to Hartford Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The truck operator was not injured, police said.

The collision is still being investigated by state police. Anyone with information is asked to call Troop H in Hartford at 860-534-1000.
