Decorated Veteran Gets Free Lift to Farmington Medical Facility

A decorated military veteran had a personal chariot ride to a Farmington medical facility on Wednesday.

FARMINGTON, CT — A decorated military veteran had a personal chariot ride to a Farmington medical facility on Wednesday.

A crew from AMR Ambulance arrived at Brookdale Assisted Living on Wednesday afternoon with a Korean War veteran and Purple Heart recipient who is suffering from bone cancer.

The veteran was given a ride aboard AMR's military ambulance free of charge.

Brookdale is located at at 20 Devonwood Drive in Farmington.

The 85-year-old vet, Kenneth Orr, and his wife, were welcomed by an honor guard, active military members, veterans from AMR and other organizations and the Purple Heart Foundation.

On the crew was Christopher Devine, an Army veteran who was an Airborne Army Medic stationed in West Germany. He currently has a son in the military who is in the middle east. Also on the crew was Victoire D'Hue, who is currently active in the Army and serves in the Niantic CT Medical Detachment as the NCOIC for the blood draw station.
