Do You Live in the Most Boring Town in Connecticut?

RoadSnacks has compiled what it claims are the “10 Most Boring Places to Live in Connecticut” list and they say it’s based on scientific data and not opinions.

“This article is an opinion based on facts and is meant as infotainment. Don’t freak out,” the authors wrote.

The author clearly had some fun with the report as they used several quips along the way.

According to RoadSnacks, which is a website that specialize in niche reporting, West Simsbury has the dubious honor of being the most boring place to live in all of Connecticut.

“But don’t feel bad if you’re a resident of West Simsbury. There are plenty of other boring, lackluster places in Connecticut as well,” the report states.

Following West Simsbury at No. 2 is Orange, followed by Essex Village, Georgetown, Northwest Harwinton, North Haven, Somers, Westport, Old Saybrook and Cheshire.

The authors say they compiled the data to find the most “mind-numbing and downright exhausting places to live in Connecticut” by examining all communities with a population of over 5,000.”

Then they drilled down to examine the percentage of the population over the age of 35, the percentage of households with married people, the percentage of households with kids, and the households with the percentage of people over the age of 65.

The higher the percentage on all of the above was considered more boring, according to the report. Conversely, if a community had a low percentage of 18-34 year-olds, they were considered more boring.

Why these towns?

More than 65 percent of West Simsbury’s population is over the age of 35 and the authors state “things aren’t going to get wild” here.

Orange made the list because almost 64 percent of households are married and “you’re not going to find Mr. or Mrs. Right for you here.”

The percentage of seniors living in North Haven is 15th highest in the state, RoadSnacks writes, and 59 percent of households in Somers are married.

Westport has the ninth highest percentage of married people and 12 highest percentage of households with kids in the state.

Cheshire has the state’s fifth highest population over the age of 35.

The authors also say science leads them to the conclusion that New London is the most exciting place to live in Connecticut.
