The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
Understandably, there are perennial issues of concern to residents such as keeping taxes low and maintaining excellent services that all our residents depend on, to name a couple. However, while walking the neighborhoods of the 2nd District and listening to residents, one repeated concern I hear expressed from people is their frustration with traffic. Some improvements have been made and going outbound toward Hartford is better, and but people want to be able to return home and cross town more easily. I will work with the state to find solutions and always listen to our residents’ ideas and recommendations.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
I am the only incumbent running for the Town Council in the 2nd District. And I have 16 years of elected public service in Farmington and Unionville. I’ve used my education and my many years of work experience in budget analysis, data analysis, forecasting and long-term planning to make decisions on our town’s budget and finances. On the Council, I work for fiscally responsible and cost-effective budgeting, and always keeping the taxpayers in mind.
Accomplishments:
At the height of the Covid-19 crisis, I voted for a 0% tax increase to help individuals, families, our seniors, and local businesses weather tough times. I also supported limiting our two-year average tax increase to 1.49%. In addition, and I voted for additional tax relief benefits for qualified seniors and disabled residents.
Other issues:
I will continue to address the needs of our seniors, strongly support Farmington’s excellent school system that not only prepares our students for the future but helps support higher home prices, sustain a vibrant business community that helps in keeping taxes lower, preserve our town’s environment, open spaces, and and historic character. The quality of life in Farmington and Unionville is among the best in Connecticut and I pledge to continue to work hard to keep it that way.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
I am a positive person and life-long Farmington resident who cares deeply about our town. I have a 16-year public service track record of working respectfully with both the public and all other elected officials, listening carefully to different opinions, and finding ways to work collaboratively for the wellbeing of our town.
I ask for your vote and hope you will support me, Edward Giannaros, and on Nov. 2nd to continue to represent you on the Town Council. Please vote Row A. Thank you!
