ESPN May Lay Off Up to 350 Employees: Report

Bloomberg Business reported Tuesday that major staff cuts at the cable sports giant may be made as early as Wednesday.

ESPN, the largest global sports network on the planet, may be eliminating as many as 350 jobs, Bloomberg Business reported Tuesday.

Citing “people with knowledge of the matter,” Bloomberg said the cable giant owned by Walt Disney Co. may announce layoffs beginning Wednesday.

In August, Disney announced it would come up short of its projected earnings.

Last month, Business Insider reported around 300 jobs could be cut due to Disney’s request to trim $100 million from ESPN’s 2016 budget.

The sports network last went through major layoffs in May 2013, when several hundred employees lost their jobs.
