Farmington Budget Heads to Referendum

No changes were made to a recent proposal.

No changes were made to the proposed town budget after only about 40 people attended the annual town meeting.

At least 300 people have to attend for changes to be made, the Hartford Courant reports.

The budget was approved by the town council in March and now heads to a referendum on April 30.

The $97.5 million proposal would increase spending by 3.41 percent.

The $60.3 million education portion of the budget is a 3.7 percent increase over the previous year. That was cut down from an original proposal for a 4.25 percent increase.
