FARMINGTON, CT — Farmington Station has renewed its SAGECare accreditation, reaffirming its commitment to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ older adults.

The assisted living and memory support community announced the renewal during Pride Month after staff completed SAGECare's LGBTQ+ Cultural Competency training, an annual program designed to help senior living providers better serve LGBTQ+ residents.

According to Farmington Station, 111 Scott Swamp Road, the training emphasizes empathy, allyship, and effective communication to foster respectful and supportive relationships within senior living communities.

SAGE is a national nonprofit organization focused on advocating for LGBTQ+ older adults.

Its SAGECare training and credentialing program provides education to senior housing providers on the unique experiences and needs of LGBTQ+ seniors.

Farmington Station first earned the accreditation in 2022 and said it remains the only assisted living community in Farmington to receive the designation.

The community said renewing the training each year reflects its ongoing commitment to ensuring all residents are treated with dignity and respect, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.

Farmington Station offers assisted living services and its Compass Memory Support Neighborhood for individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
