Outdoor Dining To Improve At Farmington Restaurant

Farmington Plan and Zoning Commission has approved construction of new outdoor dining deck.

FARMINGTON, CT — A popular local eatery has received the town's go-ahead to build a new deck for outdoor seating, making outdoor dining options more plentiful when the weather improves.

The Farmington Plan and Zoning Commission earlier this month unanimously approved a site plan from Brian Cleveland Architects to build the deck to the Five Corners Bistro & Craft Bar, 354 Colt Highway.

In addition to a new, outdoor seating area, the project will also include a reconfiguration of the parking area and a new storage area.

Currently, according to Dec. 12 meeting minutes, the outdoor dining area overlooks the parking lot in the rear of the site.

The new outdoor dining deck, however, would be in the front of the building.

Cleveland was present at the meeting and gave a presentation on behalf of the restaurant, which is owned by Despina and Christos Theodoropoulos.

Cleveland said the new configuration will give them 98 spaces.

He said when the outdoor dining area is in use, the owner will close off indoor private dining areas so the overall available seating/parking ratio will remain in compliance with the regulations.

The dining area, Cleveland said, would also have a canopy to protect diners from the elements and additional lighting.
