FARMINGTON, CT — Farmington residents headed to the polls Tuesday for the 2016 midterm election. Polling places in Farmington are now closed.
Early afternoon indications were a strong voter turnout in town.
"I see a lot of excitement and quite a high turnout," former eight-term state representative Demetrios Giannaros said outside Farmington High School. "I hope the people of Connecticut will speak up and express their concerns about certain candidates and certain behaviors. I have never seen anything like it in my 60-plus years in the United States. What happened here was just a shock to me - the kind of language that was used, antagonizing, promoting violence in some cases. I hope both sides will accept whoever wins and move forward, because the American people really need some unification to cause some change we need to progress forward."
