The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
Fiscal Responsibility. The town passed the new Farmington High School build this year. As we enter into the next two years, I want to make sure we do not over burden our residents with frivolous spending. I want to keep our budgets low for our residents while spending on projects and services that benefit our community. We need to take care of our needs, and not our wants.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
We all love our community. I can only tell you of myself. I retired from the Farmington Police Dept in 2016 after 26 years of service, I am Realtor now for the past 18 years. I grew up in a home with two older brothers who have disabilities, and currently take care of both of them. I have a vast knowledge of our town and our residents from my years as a Police Officer. I watched my mother for over 20 years live off her social security check after my father passed away understand that other residents here in town could be in the same position. That they have one income, or have to care for a family member who is sick, and or unable to care for themself.
Accomplishments:
Well the past two years of being part of the Town Council, we came right into the pandemic in March 2020. Our Town Council was the first to do a zero increase in our budget, we were able to keep our town offices open and made sure our first responders, and town workers were there for our residents. I am a voting member of our Racial Equality Task Force, and I am the Liaison for TPZ, WPCA, and and Human Relations commissions. Plus my 26 years as a Police Officer in town has helped me to make connections with our community and businesses as well with knowing our town employees.
Other issues:
I am very concerned with crime rate here in town. We have seen a increase with motor vehicle thefts. Vehicles and garages being entered and personal belongings stolen. This is causing our residents extra expenses. They have to replace what was stolen, what may have been broken by the criminal, and and now possibly a higher insurance payment because they made a claim.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
That I want our Town to push to get approval for a third bridge to help with our traffic issues. Also on how we can use the over 7 million in Federal Funds that are coming to our town. To look at possibly offseting our costs in upcoming projects with the use of the funds.
