Funeral For Former Farmington Deputy Fire Chief Tuesday: UPDATE
He was named the 2001 'Firefighter of the Year' and organized the FVFD's cadet program, services are in Avon Tuesday evening.
FARMINGTON, CT — A beloved former firefighter and ex-deputy chief of the Farmington Volunteery Fire Department has died, with funeral services taking place Tuesday, Aug. 15.
The FVFD Aug. 7 announce the passing of Michael Jozwik, who was a longtime firefighter, emergency medical technician and served as the department's deputy chief.
"Mike was best known for his years of dedicated service to the department, his leadership with the townwide cadets and training programs and most of all for his sense of humor," wrote the FVFD.

In 2001, Jozwik earned one of the local fire department's biggest honors when he was named the Farmington Exchange Club's "Firefighter of the Year."
"Mike Jozwik is a great asset to the Town of Farmington Fire Department," wrote the club in a biography of Jozwik online.

"Through his response to emergencies, his commitment to training, and his dedication to the fire cadet program, he has helped to set the standard for the high quality service and care that the residents of the Town of Farmington have come to expect from their fire department."
On Saturday, Aug. 12, the FVFD posted funeral service information about Jozwik, saying services will be on Tuesday, Aug. 15, in Avon.
