Farmington GOP, Dems Endorse 2023 Candidate Slates

Election Day is Nov. 7, with both parties in Farmington this summer endorsing hopefuls for municipal boards and commissions.

FARMINGTON, CT — Summer is still upon us, but the town's slow, steady march toward the 2023 November municipal elections continues.

Recently, Farmington's Democratic and Republican slates were endorsed and finalized, with plenty of candidates expected on the ballots for multiple boards and commissions Nov. 7.

The Farmington Republican Town Committee has endorsed its slate of hopefuls with one major omission, Farmington Town Council Chairman C.J. Thomas is not seeking another term.

Insted, Republican Joe Capodiferro — an incumbent councilman — is running to become the council chairman.

The following Republicans are running for office in Farmington:

Town council: Inc. Joe Capodiferro (chairman); Sarah Healey (1st District); Shari Greco (1st District); inc. Keith Vibert (2nd District); and Amy Palumbo (2nd District).

Board of education: Angela Cianci; Nicole Morin; and Suraj Kurtakoti.

Planning and zoning commission: Rojia Afshar; inc. Robert "Bobby" Canto; Jigesh Sha (alternate); and Kyla Zimmermann (alternate).

Zoning board of appeals: Kerry Callahan; inc. Robert Llewellyn; Peter Mastrobattista (alternate); Phil Dunn (alternate).

Board of assessment appeals: Rich Higley (alternate) and Mike Koster.

Constables: inc. Diane Rogers and inc. Geno Avenoso.

Farmington's Democratic Slate

Looking to lead a Democratic takeover of the town's highest body is incumbent Rafeena Bacchus Lee, who is running to be Farmington Town Council chairperson.

Democrats say she is a longtime Farmington resident and mother of three students in the Farmington Public Schools, serving on multiple committees and area boards.

The following Democrats are running for office:

Town council: Incumbent Rafeena Bacchus Lee; inc. Brian F.X. Connolly (1st District); Dave Wlodkowski (1st District); Patti Boye-Williams (2nd District); and Matt Hutvagner (2nd District).

Board of education: Incumbent Beth Kintner; Erika Nowakowski; James Rackliffe

Planning and zoning commission: Matt Bandle; Liz Sanford; Dave St. Germain (vacancy); Bruce Polsky (alternate); Mike Tucci (alternate)

Zoning board of appeals: Liz Gemski; Cate Grady-Benson; Marianne Dess-Santoro (alternate); Haritha Subramanian (alternate)

Board of assessment appeals: Frank Gerratana

Constables: Peter Bagdigian and Swapna Das.
