Farmington Group Offers Help To Those Caring For Loved Ones With Dementia

FARMINGTON, CT — A Farmington support group for people caring for family members with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia will host an interactive training session Thursday, Sept. 17.

"Hearts, Hugs & Hope: An Alzheimer's Support Group" will meet at 6 p.m. at Farmington Station Assisted Living and Memory Care Community, 111 Scott Swamp Road.

This month's program, "The Dementia Friendly Experience," is designed to help participants better understand some of the challenges faced by people living with dementia.

The interactive training uses simulated everyday activities to give participants a greater understanding of those challenges while also providing strategies that may help them care for family members.

Organizers said the support group also allows participants to share concerns and personal experiences with others dealing with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

Because of the interactive format of this month's program, a Zoom option will not be available.

The Hearts, Hugs & Hope support group meets on the third Thursday of each month.
