Farmington High Project Marching Along
FHS building committee approved pre-bid plans last month and is on track for a groundbreaking this fall, according to the town.

FARMINGTON, CT — Summer may represent down time for some staff and students at Farmington High School.
But for the local committee charged with planning the town's new, $135.6 million school building project to replace the current FHS site, its been anything but an inactive summer.
According to FHS Building Committee Chairman Meg Guerrera, the committee voted July 15 to approve final plans and project manuals as prepared for bidding.

The next FHS Building Committee meeting is Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 5 p.m.

In June 2021, voters resoundingly said "yes" to the project, with much of that overall price tag reimbursable by the state. It will be built at the current Monteith Drive site.
In this summer's town newsletter, town officials said the project is still on time, with officials hoping high schoolers can move in for the 2024-25 school year.
"The Farmington High School Building Committee is preparing for the construction of the new building and I am happy to report that groundbreaking is on schedule for the fall of 2022," wrote Farmington Town Council Chairman C.J. Thomas in the summer newsletter.
In a special summer report published by the town, the committee said it "remains focused on completing the detailed building design and cost estimate, in preparation for bidding to occur in late summer, and construction of the new high school facility to start this fall."
The committee said preliminary site work for the project began in the middle of last month.
The FHS Building Committee meet every other Wednesday at 5 p.m.
