Farmington High School Senior Earns Prestigious Scholarship
The students is one of a few in Connecticut to get a National Merit Scholarship Award.
FARMINGTON, CT — A Farmington High School senior was named a winner of a prestigious $2,500 scholarship, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corp. Tuesday.
According to the Evanston, Ill.,-based organization, Alen X. Wang of the Unionville part of Farmington, earned a scholarship.
He is a planning to study computer science.

The merit scholar designees were chosen from a talent pool of more than 15,000 finalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Winners are judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills and potential for success in college.

Scholars were selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors.
NMSC is a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance and was founded in 1955 to conduct the National Merit Scholarship Program.
The majority of scholarships are underwritten by approximately 340 independent corporate
and college sponsors.
