Some Farmington High School students staged a boycott against cafeteria food Monday.
Students last week met with administrators and representatives from Chartwells, the company that manages the cafeteria.
An announcement was made over the PA system that people could be subject to disciplinary action if classrooms were disturbed. Farmington High School Principal Bill Silva told NBC Connecticut that Monday’s boycott wasn’t disruptive and was respectful. He also said he plans to meet with students to get an understanding of concerns and that Chartwells is committed to addressing concerns.

Some students and parents of students brought food in to help feed those who were boycotting. Student Christy Rosario, one of the organizers, said her mom brought in care packages of food that were used for the first two lunch waves, but food was confiscated in the last two periods. Another student brought in multiple pizzas, but they weren’t allowed in, she said.
“I think people are going to be more driven now to keep participation up,” she said, adding that students will find ways within school policy to share food.
