Farmington Issues Welcome To New Top Cop, Firefighter
Farmington's town council this week officially was introduced to the new police chief and director of fire and rescue services.

FARMINGTON, CT — Two of the town's newest public safety officials were officially introduced to Farmington's top elected body during the past week.
On Tuesday, the Farmington Town Council welcomed new Farmington Police Department Chief Colin Ryan and new Farmington Director of Fire and Rescue Services Thomas Fitzgerald.
Both were appointed to their new roles last month.

Farmington Town Manager Kathy Blonski spoke highly of Ryan and stated that she looks forward to working with him, according to meeting minutes.
Ryan told the council he is a 23-year veteran of the Farmington Police Department and in the past five years he's served as captain.

He said he "is excited about this new role and looks forward to guiding the department
into the future."
Blonski then introduced Fitzgerald, saying he has 23 years of experience in the New Haven Fire Department beginning as a firefighter and working up to the rank of captain.
Additionally, he has served as commissioner of the Newtown Volunteer Fire Department for the past three years, according to minutes.
Fitzgerald said "he is very excited to be starting this new position in the Town of Farmington and looking forward to working with the council."
Both were formally welcomed by the town council.
