Farmington Land Trust Talk Sunday, January 18th, 3pm : "It All Happened on the Farmington River"

Join Us to Hear What's So Important About the Farmington River! What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon? Free, and open to the public.

The Farmington Land Trust is pleased to announce their first program of 2015 on Sunday, January 18th at 3:00 pm, at the Grist Mill, (on Miss Porters Campus) 44 Mill Lane, Farmington, CT.

Join us to hear about the rich and fascinating history of the Farmington River. Dr. Charlie Leach, former Farmington Land Trust Board member will talk briefly about the role of the Farmington river in the development of the Land Trust followed by Dr. Eileen Fielding, Executive Director of the Farmington River Watershed Association, who will present a talk on the river’s significance to the Farmington Valley. Dr. Fielding will share with us how the river affected early settlement, agriculture, the growth of greater Hartford, the rise of the recreation industry and other regional historic events. She will outline how the industrial revolution and subsequent pollution affected the river, and detail the story of native fish and wildlife as it has unfolded over the centuries. Presented by The Farmington Land Trust this lecture is free and open to the public.
