Farmington Leaf Collection Ends, Holiday Waste Collection Schedule

THE LEAF COLLECTION PROGRAM HAS ENDED FOR THIS YEAR.
LEAF COMPOST AND WOOD MULCH AREA: Residents may bring leaves and brush directly to the Tunxis Mead Compost Area, which is located at the end of Tunxis Mead Road. This area is open Wednesdays and Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to noon, and WILL BE OPEN SAT., NOVEMBER 29, 2014. THE GATE CLOSES PROMPTLY AT NOON. Also residents may pick up leaf compost and wood mulch from the Composting Area. Landscapers and contractors are NOT ALLOWED to pick up this material. Please call 860-675-2550, during inclement weather. Thank you.

Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 28, 2014:ONE-DAY DELAY PICKUPS.Christmas Day 12/25/13 and New Year’s Day 1/1/14:One day delay, STARTING with the holidays.
Reminder: To ensure proper trash and recyclable pickups, all are required to be at curbside the night before your normal trash/recyclable pickup day.
REMOVAL OF BASKETBALL HOOPS, SOCCER GOALS, ETC. FROM TOWN ROADS: Any and all sports equipment (basketball poles, hoops, soccer goals, etc.) located on or near the road must be removed immediately.The Town of Farmington will not be responsible for any damages caused to sports equipment from the Town’s leaf machines or snowplows.
SANDBOX LOCATIONS: The Farmington Highway and Grounds Division of Public Works will place sandboxes at the following locations:
- East Farms Fire Station
- Farmington Fire Station
- Oakland Gardens Fire Station
- Southwest Fire Station
- Tunxis Hose Fire Station
- Highway Garage, 544 New Britain Avenue, Unionville
This sand is for icy walkways, and is not intended for resident’s driveways. To be considerate of others, please limit yourself to a 5-gallon container. Commercial users are not allowed to remove sand from these sand boxes.
HAZARDOUS WASTE PRODUCTS: Oil based paint, pesticides, petroleum products, and propane tanks are not acceptable at the Town Highway Division of Public Works.
