Patriarch/Farmington Man In Father-Son Crack Operation Gets Prison Time
The Farmington resident was sentenced for role in son's Bridgeport-based crack distribution operation.
FARMINGTON/BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 58-year-old Farmington man will spend the next year and a half behind bars for helping out with his son's crack distribution operation out of Bridgeport.
Vanessa Roberts Avery, U.S. Attorney for Connecticut, said Monday that Kevin Jones Sr. of Farmington, was sentenced Monday by District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford to 18 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for distributing crack cocaine.
Thompson also ordered Jones to serve 200 hours of community service while on supervised release, Avery said.

According to court documents and statements made in court, in the summer of 2017, members of the FBI’s Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force and Bridgeport Police Department began investigating individuals distributing narcotics in and around Bridgeport.
Federal officials said the investigation, which included the use of court-authorized wiretaps and controlled purchases of narcotics, revealed Jones Sr.’s son, Kevin Jones Jr., headed a Bridgeport-based drug trafficking network.

Jones Sr. regularly received distribution quantities of crack cocaine from his son and sold the drug to his own customer base, Avery said.
The investigation resulted in federal charges against Jones Sr., Jones Jr., and 17 other defendants, and the seizure of narcotics, eight firearms and more than $360,000 in cash.
Jones Sr. was arrested Nov. 6, 2018. On March 4, 2020, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute, controlled substances.
Jones Sr., who is released on a $100,000 bond, is required to report to prison Jan. 27.
Jones Jr., also known as “Ox” and “Scott,” of Bridgeport, has pleaded guilty and is detained while awaiting sentencing.
This matter has been investigated by the FBI’s Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force and the Bridgeport Police Department, as well as the Drug Enforcement Administration, Connecticut State Police, and the Stratford, Norwalk, Seymour and Trumbull police departments.
The case is being prosecuted through the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Program.
