Farmington Named to League of American Bicyclists Bike Friendly Community List

The League of American Bicyclists ranks states, communities, businesses and universities.

Farmington has been named to The League of American Bicyclists Bike Friendly Communities list.

Only six municipalities in Connecticut were named to the list. They include: Farmington, Simsbury, New Britain, New Haven, South Windsor and West Hartford.

Simsbury was the only community to earn a silver ranking and the rest earned bronze.

The league assesses all 50 states along with many communities, businesses and universities. It offers help and advice on how to improve the bike-friendliness of a community.

Connecticut ranks 21st in the list of states.

Studies by the league indicate that bike friendly communities typically see more growth when it comes to people using bicycles for transportation.
