Farmington Obituary: Braeden Riccini, 7

Condolences to his family and friends.

Braeden Mark Riccini, 7, of Farmington, beloved son of Mark and Heather Riccini, passed away peacefully on June 13 in the arms of his mother and father and surrounded by his family.

Braeden was born on August 12, 2009 in Hartford. He was an extraordinary boy who overcame incredible odds. Braeden blessed his parents, family, and friends with almost 8 years of boundless joy and happiness. He was a treasured son, grandson, great-grandson, godson, nephew, and cousin. Braeden lived his life surrounded by love, and returned that love in abundance.

In addition to his parents, he leaves behind his maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Margaret DeJohn of West Hartford, his paternal grandparents, Robert and Donna Riccini of Newington, his paternal great-grandparents, Wladyslaw and Janina Lenczewski of New Britain, his uncle and godfather, Darrell DeJohn of West Hartford, his uncle and godfather, Gary Riccini, aunt Christine Ragozzino and cousins Nico and Luca of Cheshire, and many great-aunts, uncles, and extended family. He also leaves behind his special auntie and godmother, Susie Paulo of Newington. Additionally, he leaves his dedicated and loving caregivers, Melissa and Leslie. Braeden was predeceased by his maternal great-grandparents, John and Victoria Cardillo, his maternal great-grandmother, Mary Dalo DeJohn, and his paternal great-grandparents, Solideo and Vanda Riccini.

The family would like to thank the staff at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, where Braeden was a frequent visitor, for their kindness and tremendous care of Braeden. The family would also like to thank Dr. Jannuzzi and all the wonderful staff at Unionville Pediatrics, as well as all of the nurses, teachers, therapists and others who contributed to Braeden’s care throughout his life.

Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Monday (June 19) from 8:30-10:00am. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be at 10:00am followed by the Funeral Liturgy in the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville at 10:30am. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
