
Edward G. Lord, Sr., of Farmington, husband of Blanche (Feldstein) Lord, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at his home.
Born in Winsted on February 20, 1928, Ed attended The Gilbert School until he enrolled in the Merchant Marines on June 10, 1944 at the age of 16. He served as a gunner in both the Atlantic and Pacific; was sunk twice. He was drafted into the Army for 18 months from April 25, 1946 until October, 25, 1947, again serving in the Pacific.
Ed returned to Winsted to marry Vera Schoonmaker, also of Winsted. They had one son, Edward G. Lord, III, born on January 11, 1949. Ed worked many years for Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks and the Town of Simsbury. He loved fishing in Sandy Brook in Colebrook and driving any type of new car. He was an avid runner competing in the Boston Marathon several times with a best time of 3:02 in 1971.

Besides his wife, Ed is survived by his son, Edward G. Lord, III, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his 1st wife, Vera.
Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
