Edward F. Peltier, 93, of Unionville, beloved husband of the late Madelyn A. “Maude” Peltier, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 19th, 2016.

Born November 24th, 1922 in Unionville, son of the late Dennis Joseph and Margaret (Roach) Peltier, he resided in town his entire life. Prior to retiring, Eddie worked in Distribution for Superior Electric. He was a proud United States Navy Veteran of World War II in the Submarine Service.

Ed was predeceased by brothers Max Peltier, Robert Peltier, and Thomas Peltier, and by sisters Bernadette Scalia, Gertrude Buteau and Florence Trelli. Ed and Maude never had children of their own, but Ed leaves 31 loving nieces and nephews along with many great nieces and nephews. Nephews Jack and Jim Shearer, Chris Foryan and Seth Yabrosky, and nieces Mary Yabrosky and Janet Keener were especially devoted to Ed’s well-being over the years. In later life, Ed also adopted a “Stop and Shop” family who welcomed him into their store and their hearts and gave him much joy.

Ed and Maude were everyone’s favorite aunt and uncle, so full of fun and life and always ready with a hug and a smooch. Eddie had a beautiful singing voice, played guitar and was at the heart of so many family holiday sing-alongs. He lived a full, active life right up to the very end, and we were all blessed to have him in our lives.

Ed’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff of Bristol Hospital’s Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit, who cared so thoughtfully for Ed in his final days.
