Farmington Obituary: Elmer Anderson, 96

Elmer W. Anderson, 96, of Farmington, beloved husband for 68 years of Barbara (Miller) Anderson, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 12th, 2018.

Born February 20th, 1922 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Carl O. and Jenny (Lind) Anderson. Elmer was a United States Air Force veteran serving with distinction during World War II. Prior to retiring, he was a Highway Engineer for the State of Connecticut.

He enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, carpentry and poker playing (especially at Foxwoods). During the flood of 1955, Elmer was instrumental in the rescue of several families as well as in assisting emergency personnel.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Hartford Healthcare Hospice for their outstanding care and compassion.

Besides his wife, Elmer is survived by their three children, Susan Macko of Canton, Bob Anderson of West Hartford and Lynn Anderson of Farmington and two grandchildren, Matthew Macko and Brittany Anderson. He was predeceased by his sister, Elsa Anderson.

Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Saturday (June 16) from 6:00-8:00pm.
