Farmington Obituary: Elsie Morrow, 96

Elsie Alice MacRae Morrow passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018 in Farmington. Her husband of 68 years, William, passed in September of 2014.

Elsie was born in Harrington, Quebec, Canada to Alice and Robert MacRae on December 10. 1921. She leaves her daughter and son-in-law Donna and Jim Wilkie of Farmington, daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Walt Hussey of Gilroy, California, and grandchildren Katherine Hussey of Morgan Hill, California and Robert Hussey of Gilroy, California. She is also survived by sisters Clara Carson of Pointe Claire, Quebec and Kathleen Berthiaume of Hawkesbury, Ontario. She was predeceased by brothers Alvin, Elmer and Nelson. Elsie also leaves several nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren. Her niece, Velma, of London, Ontario spoke with her by phone nearly every day.

Elsie moved to Brownsburg, Quebec, where she met Bill, to pursue employment. Over the years she worked in various retail and supervisory positions.

Her family is most appreciative of her role as mother and grandmother. Her kindness, dedication, loyalty and enduring love was unsurpassed.

Elsie enjoyed reading, knitting, crossword puzzles and long walks with Bill. They moved from Dalesville, Quebec to Livermore, California, to Avon and Simsbury and finally to Littleton, Colorado before returning to Connecticut to be near family.

After retirement, they enjoyed many trips to all seven continents. Elsie was also Bill’s valued assistant as he designed and crafted many beautiful pieces of furniture for family. They worked and loved together seamlessly. Although our hearts are breaking, we are comforted to know that they are now together forever.

A Celebration of Life Reception and Luncheon will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Carmon’s Funeral Home and Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon.
