Farmington Obituary: Irene Myers, 97

Condolences to her family and friends.

Irene G. (Grant) Myers, 97, formerly of Unionville, widow of Walter H. Myers, Sr., passed away peacefully Saturday, December 2nd, at her home in Madawaska, Maine.

Born November 8th, 1920 in Unionville, she was the daughter of the late Edward T. and Agnes Margaret (Griffin) Grant. Prior to retiring, Irene was employed by Myrtle Mills in Unionville for many years and the Needle Factory. She was a longtime communicant at the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea in Unionville and was a Gold Star mother; her only son, Walter H. Myers, Jr., was killed in action in the Republic of Vietnam in 1966 while serving with the United States Army.

Irene is survived by her daughter and her husband Cheryl J. and Gerald R. Soucy with whom she made her home in Madawaska, ME., her granddaughter and her husband Kimberly L. and Denis M. Dionne of St. David, ME., her three great – grandchildren, Trista and Trentin Dionne of St. David, ME., and her eldest great – grandchild and his wife Collin Walter and Melissa M. LeDuc of Manchester. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Edward T. Grant Jr., John J. Grant, and William H. Grant, and her three sisters Marjorie McKissick, Ruth Ingvertsen, and Beatrice Filandro.

Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Saturday (Dec. 16) from 8:30-9:30am. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be at 9:30am followed by the Funeral Liturgy in the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville at 10:00am. Burial will be in the family plot at St. Mary Cemetery, Avon.
