Farmington Obituary: John Cichon, 73

John S. Cichon, 73, of New Hartford, died suddenly at his home on June 20, 2018.

He was born March 2, 1945 in Bristol to the late Stanley and Edna Cichon (Souney). He was raised in Farmington, where he met his wife of 51 years, Pauline (Warner), in elementary school. Retiring as a machine operator from Theis Steel in Bristol, John spent his time pursuing his life-long interest in sport hunting and fishing.

For over half a century he worked, raised a family and enjoyed the rural environment of New England. Whether through membership in local fish and game associations, involvement in local land management or simply loyally participating in Local and State wildlife programs, John contributed a substantial amount of his time and money supporting outdoor conservationism.

In addition to his wife Pauline, John is survived by their two children; son Jason Cichon and his wife Sharon of Burlington, and daughter Suzanne Cichon of Farmington; four nieces, Lori, Kimberly, Michele and Laura and two nephews, Rob and Paul, as well as several life-long family and friend relationships. He was predeceased by his brother Jack Cichon in 1993.

Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Friday (June 29) from 12:00-2:00pm. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be at 2:00pm followed by graveside funeral services in St. Mary Cemetery, Avon.
