Farmington Obituary: Nancy Callahan, 82

Condolences to her family and friends.

Nancy Theresa (Gorman) Callahan, 82, of Farmington, formerly of East Hartford, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on January 27, after a short illness.

She was born in Hartford, on June 11, 1934, the daughter of the late Wilbert and Miriam (Stewart) Gorman. She grew up in West Hartford, and graduated from Hall High School in 1952, where she met her future husband Thomas. After attending La Salle University and Syracuse University, she and Thomas were married and moved to East Hartford, where they raised their family.

She worked for the State of Connecticut in various offices including, Corrections, Freedom of Information & the Attorney General’s office, under Joseph Lieberman and Richard Blumenthal.

Nancy was pre-deceased by the love of her life, Thomas A. Callahan, and her son Mark C. Callahan. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Looney and her husband John of West Hartford, her son Thomas A. Callahan, Jr. of Farmington, her son Kevin W. Callahan and his wife Patricia of West Hartford, and 2 dearly loved grandchildren, Claire D. Looney and Thomas E. Callahan, both of West Hartford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, (February 1) at 10am at St Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
