Farmington Obituary: Sondra Swanson, 83

Sondra J. Swanson, 83, of Farmington, formerly of Southington, beloved wife of Dr. Donald M. Swanson, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 23, 2018.

Born April 4, 1934, in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Edgar R. and Lillian (Finn) Guinea. Sondra attended St. Peters School, graduated from Plainville High School and received her nursing degree from Middlesex Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Prior to retiring in 1998, she was the Nurse at Plainville High School for 25 years. Sondra was a member of Chippanee Golf Club, New Britain Power Squadron and enjoyed boating for 25 years in Mystic.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her two children, Donald M. Swanson Jr., and his wife Sharon of North Easton, MA and Kristen Kenney and her husband William of Southington, three grandchildren, Erika Swanson of Providence, RI, Kevin Swanson of New York, NY, and Jane Kenney of Southington and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Hopkins and her brother Raymond Guinea.

Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Sunday (Jan. 28) from 2:00-4:00pm followed by a Prayer Service in the funeral home at 4:00pm.
