
Thomas Aquinas Callahan, 82, beloved husband of Nancy (Gorman) Callahan of Farmington, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Bronx, NY, January 7th, 1933 the son of the late Albert and Anna (Laura) Callahan, Tom grew up in West Hartford with his brothers Lee and the late, Albert, and Vincent Callahan. Tom graduated from Providence College in 1955 and received his Master’s degree in Education from Central Connecticut State University. He moved his family to East Hartford in 1961 where he worked as a teacher in the East Hartford Public School system for 35 years. Tom was an avid PC Basketball and NY Yankees fan.
Besides his wife of 60 years, he leaves his children, Kathleen Looney and her husband Jack of West Hartford, Thomas A. Callahan Jr. of Farmington, Mark Callahan (deceased 2004), Kevin Callahan and his wife Patricia of West Hartford; and two dearly loved grandchildren Claire D. Looney and Thomas E. Callahan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday (Dec. 19) at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
